Today I am going to Siddhartha Qautama's Palace because Time Travelers Inc. wants me to. So I got my things and walked there. I was trying to remember what I learned when I was in sixth grade, then it came to my mind. "Oh yeah! Buddhism was based on the teachings of Buddha! And that means "Awakened One." The Buddha was a man who lived in India from about 563-483 B.C.E. I walked jauntily up the hills to the enormous palace. And finally I was there, it was beautiful, with big blossoming pink trees everywhere. I knocked on the 20 foot door. And a women answered and said, "Oiiiee, oh please come in my dear.." She then opened the door bigger and then in the a far distance I saw a person sitting in a large chair mumbling. He was meditating. The women walked me over to him and sat a medium sized pillow on the ground so I could sit on. I looked around the palace and saw big velvet curtains drooping in front of the windows. I turned and saw the prince. He had his eyes closed. I touched his knee to see if he would wake up, then he opened his eyes slowly and said, "Hello miss, who are you and what are you doing in my palace?"
"Oh um, well I am Ava Anderson and I came here to learn about your journey to becoming the 'Awaken One.'"
"Okay, well here.... I was born in a garden, and my mother was named Queen Maya. And my father's name was King Suddhodana. My father kept me from the outside world so I wouldn't see sickness, death, sorrow, and aging. So he kept me in here, he gave me anything I wanted, entertainment, food, etc. Then I got married at the age of 16 and had a baby at 29. Awhile later he let me see some of the town. I noticed that there was sorrow and death. So my plan was to "escape" from the palace and find my way to the forest."
"That's so cool!"
"Yup, so then I got to the forest, I crouched behind a rotting tree, and watched some ascetics meditate. Then I my courage together and went for it. I met the ascetics and I meditated for about 7 weeks. Then on my 35th birthday, they chose me to be the Buddha."
"Wow, that is so AWESOME!"
"Yes, indeed."
"Well, thank you sooo much! I have learned sooo much and thanks to you that brought back memories when I was in 6th grade and we did blogs about this chapter in books. I got to go, BYE!"
"Bye." said the Buddha.
I walked out of the palace and took one last look at it and "stuck" it in my brain forever...
It's cool that you gave the Buddha a chance to reflect on his life.
