Well, to start off a new day, I decided to go to an ancient city called Jenne-jeno. I've always wondered and dreamed about going there for a long time, so this is my chance. I just want to explore the city and learn new stuff about it. I took my magical flying car I hid in the trees back in Islam and zoomed off into Africa. I knew I got there because there was a lot of people walking around and there weren't a lot of cities near by either. I landed my car a couple miles away from my destination and started walking to the city.
When I got there, there was a big 10 foot tall circular wall. I couldn't find a way in, so I walked around the whole outside. Finally I found it. I glided into the city with my mouth wide open. It was actually really cool, all the houses were circular and dome-like. They looked like they were built from bent poles and woven mats. I remember when I was in middle school, we had History Alive books, and the only thing I remember from the Africa chapter was that the Jenne-jeno section said that later on the houses would be made of mud blocks. "OH! I must have came here way before that! I am here when the city was first becoming busy!" I said aloud (probably looking like an idiot, talking to myself).
I walked into the heart of the town to find a large what looked like a trading center. What really caught my eye was the beads. There were really beautiful and colorful beads all laying on a cloth on the ground. I yearned to have a necklace or something with those beads! I decided to get one, I payed the lady and turned around to see the other sales. I could see that there was a lot of people selling fruits, vegetables, beads, leather working, and weaving. All of this was pretty, the colors were miraculous. One man was waving anxiously at me for some reason. "Hello, Hello! Come here! Do you want to buy some fresh fish! I just caught it from the Nigar River!" The man said excitedly. I looked at him and then turned around avoiding him because I didn't have a lot of money and I don't like fish.
As I kept walking, I heard pounding coming from somewhere. I turned around and saw that it was the man that was trying to sell me the fish. "Oh, no" I said under my breath. He finally catched me and said, "I was trying to sell you my fish!"
"Yes, I know, I don't like fish."
"Oh, well, I have a very poor family..." He said sadly to try to make me give in. "And every little dollar counts..." I waited there for a while just looking at him. Then I indulged.
"Fine." I said with disappointment that I gave in. We walked back to his stand and I got the fish. As I started walking back down the road I said under my breath sarcastically, "Great, now I have fish that I don't want, and no money. That's just great."
It was getting dark, I didn't really know where to stay. Which probably means that I have to sleep outside. People were still out and selling still even though it's like eight o'clock. I also had nothing to eat all day, I looked down in my hand where that slimy dead fish lay there, I frowned and new that I would have to eat it. I found a big open fire outside someone's home and just cooked it there for about a couple minutes. I took it out of the fire and took a large bite hoping it wouldn't taste bad, but of course it did. The texture was slimy and wet and gross. To get my mind of the fish I looked up at the sky and saw that it was beautiful, stars were everywhere just lighting up the sky. "Now that is a good way to end your first day in Africa." I said with a smile. "Except for the fish and sleeping outside part." I included.
I really liked how you hid your flying car in a bush to get it later! that was cool. I loved how you mention our History Alive books too. Very creative. Nice post!
